Golf of War Finished (?)
So Golf of War is finished. At least as finished as I can make it for the KenneyJam 2019 submission. There are a few issues I've been told about, but maybe if I continue updating the game I'll fix those.
This game was created by Orthyker and I, using Unity engine. The idea for tanks and golf came from quickly looking at the asset list and thinking, "You know what would be stupid? Tanks playing golf. That would sure be an unusual combination". Naturally that's what Orthyker and I ended up going with.
The hardest part of this project was raycasting, since I've never actually used it before. It's always been something I've avoided, but I thought it's about time to try using it. The enemy tanks raycast to the player to check if they can see the player, and if they can, they shoot. I was really happy that I managed to get it to work, but half an hour before the final build the white tanks refused to shoot the ball, so I just disabled it for them. It's also one of the few 3D games I've made, but if you don't challenge yourself then what's the point of a game jam?
The whole process was very fun, and I was really impressed with how much work we'd managed to get done in the limited time. Just a year ago I would never have dreamed of having a functional game ready in time.
